What is an elective ultrasound?
An ‘elective ultrasound’ is a non-medical ultrasound that you have purely for your enjoyment. Meeting your baby during the various developmental stages is special for everyone involved. Consciously experiencing your child’s development in an informal setting is central to our approach. We take our time and explain the ultrasound so that you can enjoy this moment in peace. You can choose from various types of elective ultrasounds, depending on your wishes and budget. If you want to enjoy this more often, choose one of our combination packages. Expectant parents are very welcome with older siblings. It is always nice to watch the ultrasound again at home in peace with enthusiastic family and/or friends. Therefore, for an additional fee, we offer a USB stick of the ultrasound recording, which includes sound and video.
When possible?
From as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy, you are warmly welcome for a special first look at your baby.
From 15 weeks onwards, it is possible to have the gender of your baby determined. Would you prefer to discover the gender at a later time? We can also write it down for you in a sealed envelope, so that you can choose when and how you want to share this special news. The gender determination has a reliability of 99%.
Between 26 and 29 weeks of pregnancy, we also offer the exclusive 4D HDlive ultrasound. With this advanced technology, you get a lifelike image of your baby, ensuring an unforgettable experience. Of course, future brothers and sisters are also very welcome.

Have you had the 20-week ultrasound, and do you want to continue following your baby’s further development? Then our exclusive 4D HDlive ultrasound around 27 weeks is a wonderful way to admire your baby in a lifelike manner.
With advanced 4D HDlive technology, realistic images in colour are created, while natural lighting effects ensure a special and detailed view of your baby.
For the best results, various factors play a role, such as the position of your baby, the amount of amniotic fluid, and the position of the placenta. In some cases, this makes it impossible to capture the desired images immediately. Should this happen, we will schedule a new appointment free of charge to try again to capture beautiful images.
Fortunately, the ultrasound is successful immediately in approximately 95% of the appointments, making the 4D HDlive ultrasound a lasting and cherished memory for most expectant parents.
Experienced sonographers
At Echocentrum het Lichtpunt, you are in expert hands. Our team of sonographers is specially trained to perform medical pregnancy ultrasounds and has years of experience. Every year, our sonographers perform hundreds of ultrasounds, continuously maintaining and further developing their professional knowledge and expertise.
Rates
Different rates apply to our various recreational ultrasounds. Additionally, for an extra fee, it is possible to take the ultrasound images home on a USB stick, so that you can always look back at these special moments.

With every elective ultrasound, you also receive several free photos in a beautiful storage folder as a memory of your visit.
Please note that an elective ultrasound is not reimbursed by the health insurer and is therefore at your own expense.
Who am I bringing?
An elective ultrasound is a special and intimate moment to meet your baby together with your partner. If your partner cannot be present, you may bring one other guest.
Would you also like to let grandparents, family, or other loved ones share in this special moment? Then you can opt for a USB recording of the ultrasound, so you can watch the images together later.
Brothers and sisters are also very welcome at all elective ultrasounds. This way, they can be involved in the arrival of their new brother or sister in a beautiful way.
